The event raised $3200 for local animal shelter

Grand Rapids, MI- The Rolling Scones raised a total of $3200 for the Humane
Society of West Michigan at their charity event Pies and Pets.
The Saturday February 15, 2020 charity event took place at The Rolling Scones and raised a
total of $3200. The money that was raised will go toward building new kennels at the
shelter along with any additional supplies the Humane Society will need to care for the
animals at their shelter. The event also had an on-site adoption where 22 animals staying
at the Humane Society of West Michigan found new homes.
The owner of The Rolling Scones Janet Smitty said, “I am so happy that so many people from the community came out to show their support, and we were able to raise so much money for the Humane Society.”
Many members of the community came out to the event to show their support for both businesses and partook in the fun festivities that were going on. Due to the generous contributions from the community, the Humane Society of West Michigan was able to raise double the expected amount for the shelter.
“This event was a huge success and a lot bigger than we anticipated!” said Sara Smith,
organizer of Pies and Pets for the Humane Society of West Michigan. “We are very
grateful to The Rolling Scones for partnering with us in hosting this event along with
everyone that came out to show their support.”
The Humane Society of West Michigan plans to start building new kennels by May this
year with the proceeds from the event.
